PWI Muba Management Officially Appointed Chairman of PWI Sumsel, Kurnaidi: Uphold the Journalistic Code of Ethics

MUBA, LARAS POST - The management of the Musi Banyuasin Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for the 2023-2026 period was officially inaugurated, at the Muba Regent's Official Residence Hall, Wednesday (12/04/2023).

The inauguration was based on the results of a decision on the implementation of the PWI Muba Conference which was held last March.

The ranks of PWI Muba who were appointed directly by the Chairman of PWI South Sumatra H. Firdaus Komar finally Kurnaidi officially lead PWI Musi Banyusasin for the next term.

At the inauguration of the PWI Muba management was attended directly by Acting. Regent of Muba H. Apriyadi, accompanied by the Dandim 0401 Muba, Kapolres Muba, PWI Lubuk Linggau administrators, and PWI Oku Selatan administrators, Chair of MCM.Net Muba, Chair of SMSI Muba, Chair of IWO Muba, Chair of FWDPI Muba, Chair of the Red and White Troops, Head of Partners Village, Chair of AWDI Muba, as well as all government agencies and PWI Muba administrators.

The Chairperson of PWI Muba, Kurnaidi expressed his gratitude to all the committee and also all parties who have been very supportive so that the Inauguration of the PWI Muba Management went smoothly.

Apart from that, Kurnaidi also said that there are currently 85 pwi members in the muba, 42 young members, 42 ordinary members and 1 lifetime member.

"Even with the 85 different characters of journalists at PWI Muba, I want to guarantee that the journalists at PWI Muba are journalists who are competent and uphold the journalistic code of ethics in carrying out their duties and functions," Kurnaidi said while giving a speech.

Meanwhile, PWI Sumsel H. Firdaus Komar in his remarks congratulated the new PWI Muba board members for the 2023-2026 period.

"Our hope, of course, is for the newly appointed PWI Muba management to run the organization in accordance with PWI's PD/PRT, and it is very important to build synergy with all parties," said Firdaus.

On the same occasion, the Acting Regent of Muba congratulated the inauguration of the PWI Muba management and hoped that the journalists on duty at Muba, especially those who were members of PWI Muba, would continue to maintain professionalism in carrying out their duties.

"If all journalists at Muba are journalists who are professional and uphold the journalist's code of ethics, I'm sure even though there is criticism reported, it is constructive criticism, not merely cornering or even containing slander," he concluded.

Apart from that, facing the political year 2024, Apriyadi invites all journalists to maintain neutrality together, and journalists should present quality news, not news that contains content because the role of the media in shaping public opinion is so great.

"Let's be neutral, let the democratic process run according to its stages, we can only oversee it, and news from fellow journalists should be soothing news," concluded Apriyadi. (Rom)
