Increasing Cooperation between Indonesia and the PEA, President Jokowi Receives a Visit from Ambassador Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri

– In order to improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (PEA), the Government continues to establish good cooperation for the two countries.

One of them was the visit of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (PEA) to the Republic of Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, who was received directly by President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/4/2023).

At the meeting, the President formally conveyed his congratulations to Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who has been appointed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and also to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed as Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

"Mr. President asked to convey these congratulations to both of them," said Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi in a statement after accompanying the President.

In addition, during the meeting President Jokowi also spoke about efforts to strengthen economic relations between the two countries. The Head of State hopes that the finalization of the ratification of the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership can be completed soon.

"Mr. President expressed his hope that all processes can be completed maximally by the end of this year," he continued.

Retno added that other efforts to strengthen economic relations discussed were related to PEA investment projects in a number of infrastructure developments in the country.

"He also spoke with the UAE Ambassador about several investment projects, including in the field of port development which is also expected to be completed soon," Retno added.

On this occasion, according to Retno, the President also expressed his willingness to attend the World Climate Action Summit which will be held in December.

"The President also said that he would attend the World Climate Action Summit which will be held in early December, also to coincide with the celebration of the 52nd UAE National Day," he said. (her, sg)
